Home Maintenance

Now that spring is underway and the weather is getting warmer, it is time to get outside! And because spring showers are inevitable, take those opportunities to begin your spring cleaning!

Checklist:

Outside: Trim shrubs around walls, leaving at least 3 inches between any plants and your house. Remove tree limbs, branches, or debris that can attract insects. Maintain grading to ensure proper drainage.

Outside: Check roof for leaks. Check for damaged, loose or missing shingles. Check vents and louvers for birds, nests, squirrels and insects. Check flashing around roof stacks, vents, and skylights for leaks.

Outside: Clean and check gutters and downspouts for leaks, misalignment or damage.

Inside and Outside: Clean windows.

Inside: Check basement or crawlspace for cracks or any sign of dampness or leaks. Check for any evidence of termites or wood-eating insects.
